Today global warming has become a rising problem because of the major effects it has had on the world around us. The effects global warming has had on us range from increasing surface temperatures to more category four and five hurricanes. Scientists have concluded that over the past 100 years, the average surface temperature of the Earth has risen between 0.4 and 0.8°C (Strauss). Scientists have also predicted for the Southeast region of the Unites States’ average annual temperature will increase between 4 and 9°F by the year 2080 (USGCRP). These rising temperatures will not only affect our daily lives, but also what we can do on the land around us. Although the temperature hasn’t risen by 4 or 9°F yet, the past twelve years have been hottest years in the United States to ever be recorded (Union of Concerned Scientists). The past couple of decades have also brought a record amount of droughts, forest fires, and strong and harmful hurricanes, including Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, which costed the government about $125 billion (NRDC). These major catastrophes have caused many people to turn their attention to this rising problem. Many people, who have been affected or know people who have been affected, are trying to find ways or use alternates methods, that are more environmental friendly, to do things, so they can cut down on the amount of fossil fuels being burned and put into the atmosphere. These greenhouse gases cause heat to be locked into the atmosphere instead of being let go. This cause the temperature to rise, which then may led to rising sea levels due to the melting of the polar ice caps (Strauss). Other people have a different opinion on what is happening because they have not seen the effects of global warming in the area where they are living, so they may believe that global warming is a myth or is not happening. These people continue to live they way they are living and use methods that may be hurting the environment in the process.

Reflection:
I choose to do this project on global warming because it has been a growing issue that I have seen over the past decade. I haven heard about and seen some of the things that is has caused around the world; however, I have also seen how things are not changing. Many people continue to waste products or use unnecessary things that hurt our environment. I believe that global warming is a major issue that should not be ignored. I think that people need to start to change their actions or we may eventually create a true disaster. Through this satire I tried to show how people might over exaggerate what global warming actually means. The potential audience of this satire is any one who has read about the effects of global warming. I think people who know what global warming is and what it is causing would understand the sarcasm behind this satire. I choose to prove my point in the form of an article because it could be something featured in a newspaper or magazine that would catch people’s attention. My response use elements of comedy to make fun of and over exaggerate an opinion about global warming. To write this satire I used a couple elements of comedy. I used a hyperbole during the paragraph about how schools are preparing their students for the ultimate vacation. I used situational irony in the passage about the president warning Americans to prepare for the coming vacation, when the president should be talking about wars or ways to prevent global warming. Lastly I used juxtaposition in a quote from the president “I would like to ask all Americans to prepare themselves for potentially the best and hottest summer in recorded history”. By putting recorded history next to best and hottest you are repeating the point and putting an emphasis that it will truly be the best and hottest.
THE ULTIMATE VACTATION IS HERE!
Recent reports from various stores across the country have reported that they have sold out of all beach supplies, that was available even though it is still summer. People across the country are stocking up on beach gear, barbeque supplies, and warm weather clothes. Even though a cold front recently hit the eastern region of the Unites States, which brought frozen rain, snow, and ice, people believe that this is the final warning for the warm front, the beginning of global warming, that is about to hit.
During a recent press conference, the President of the United States advised Americans to prepare themselves for the ultimate summer vacation that will soon hit the United States. “I have consulted with many scientist, and we have come to conclusion that the true affects of global warming are coming, and that all Americans should stock up on all materials that would be used during a beach vacation. I would like to ask all Americans to prepare themselves for potentially the best summer in recorded history.”
Students at Forest Green High School have begun to learn skills they could use in the near future to have fun and party during the “ultimate vacation”. In home education classes, students are leaning how to barbeque, to properly cut watermelon, and different ways to keep drinks cold in sand. At Forest Green High School, sand has been imported, so that students can practice playing beach volleyball and soccer and making sandcastles. “I can’t wait for global warming to finally hit! It is going to be so much fun, and I’m going to have the best tan!” said senior Lucy Smith.
Schools across the country are preparing their students for the coming “vacation”. Multiple companies have also begun to prepare for this ultimate vacation are making by making mass productions of swimsuits, shorts, sunglasses, towels, and other beach supplies, so that people can begin to stock up on all the necessities. “All hands have been on deck because everyone is constantly running around restocking shelves and racks for huge masses of costumers shopping and stocking up,” explained manger Jake Potter at a local Target.
Not only have schools and companies begun preparing for the vacation, but many hotels, construction companies, and governors have been working together to plan for the large bookings of people who want to be by the coast. Another rising issue that has occurred is what areas by the coast will be dog beaches, public beaches, private beaches, and nude beaches. “I hope I can get a spot at a nude beach because the weather reporters are predicting very hot and sunny days, so I don’t see the point in wearing clothes at all,” said resident Bobby Evans.
With everybody rushing to get ready, resorts, hotels, and airline companies are stopping people from booking rooms until after March 15, so that they can prepare the staff for the coming crown. The only thing people are waiting for now is when global warming will decide to start the hopefully forever lasting summer vacation.
